It’s a well-known business fact: nobody—and I repeat, NOBODY—has time to run their business, manage clients, and also grow their business. Since you can’t clone yourself (damn!), and you can’t hide under your desk,  it’s important to think about hiring an Online Business Manager (OBM). You just can’t fill every role in your business yourself and still have the time you need to do things like go shopping for groceries (or whatnot) and get some quality sleep! So you need someone who you can trust to delegate some of the more administrative tasks to. This is where an OBM comes in!

Believe it or not, there are some small business owners who have no desire to hire an OBM. I guess they don’t want to get things done. They’ll literally come up with any excuse not to. Like these (any of these sound familiar to you?)….

I can do it myself. I don’t need one.

Of course you can do it yourself. No one ever said you couldn’t. BUT it’s going to take up all of your time, bog down your business, and probably cost you more money than you think! Hiring an OBM will free you from the day-to-day management tasks, allowing you to focus on nurturing your clients, hitting your financial goals and bringing in new clients!

They won’t understand my business.” or “By the time I’ve told you what to do I could have done it myself.

This is just plain wrong! Any reputable OBM will have enough skill and experience to pick up on your business quickly. Because they work with a wide range of companies in multiple industries, the skills they’ve honed along the way are easily transferable. It’s their business (and their bread and butter) to understand your business. Plus, once you’ve told them one time, you won’t have to tell them again. You’ll just have to trust that it’s getting done. And there’s nothing preventing you from checking their work from time to time.

I can’t commit to hiring someone long-term.

You don’t need to, and that’s one of the best parts! Instead of planning out and committing to long contracts, shoot for something in the range of 3 months. That should be enough time to have an impact on your schedule, your business and your growth in the future.

I need someone in the office.

Seriously? In the age of the internet, Google Drive, and video conferencing….why? If you prefer to work with someone face-to-face occasionally, that’s what Skype is for.

Excuses, Excuses… Please! For all of you that do want to get things done, I say GO FOR IT and hire an OBM!

What 3 things in your business would you like to delegate to someone, fast?
